Title 12. STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND PUBLIC PLACES |
Chapter 12.24. TREES AND SHRUBS |
Article I. Cutting and Trimming of Trees |
§ 12.24.026. Trimming or removal by village at the request of adjoining property owner.
The owner of real estate lying immediately adjacent to a tree on property under the jurisdiction of the village may request that the department of public works trim or remove the tree. The department will generally not consider the trimming or removal of any such tree not on any priority list established by the department. No more than six trees may be on the priority list in any given fiscal year. Work on trees placed on the priority list shall not begin unless and until all other damage to trees under the jurisdiction of the village has been addressed. If the owner of immediately adjoining real estate requests the trimming of a tree located on property under the jurisdiction of the village and if the department concurs with such request, the department may at its option contract for trimming of the tree provided that the owner of the adjoining real estate first pays to the village fifty percent of the cost incurred by the village.
