§ 15.40.156. Basements used as habitable spaces.

  • No basement shall be used as habitable space unless:

    A.

    The floor and walls are of waterproof construction.

    B.

    The total window area, total openable area and ceiling height are in accordance with the regulations of this chapter, except when some other devices as approved by the village inspector affording adequate ventilation and humidity control are supplied and which are capable of supplying outside air at a rate of not less than ten cubic feet per minute per occupant.

    C.

    The required minimum window area of every habitable room is entirely above the grade of the ground adjoining such window area, not including window wells, stairwells and accessways.
