Article XII. Rooming Houses, Sleeping Rooms, Dormitories, Hotels and Motels |
§ 15.40.384. Lavatories, water closets and bath facilities.
Every rooming house, dormitory, hotel, motel or sleeping room complex shall provide at least one water closet, lavatory basin, and bathtub or shower properly connected to a public or an approved private water and a public sewer system for each two rooms or for each four persons or fraction thereof living within the facility, including members of the family or the owner or operator if they reside on the premises and share the use of the facilities. All facilities shall be maintained in good working condition at all times. All such facilities shall be located within the residence building served and shall be not more than one story removed from any of the persons sharing such facilities. Every lavatory basin and bathtub or shower shall be supplied with hot and cold water under pressure at all times. Such required facilities shall not be located in a cellar. In the case of accommodations in which rooms are let only to males, flush urinals may be substituted for not more than one-half of the required number of water closets. Every flush water closet, flush urinal, lavatory basin and bathtub or shower as required herein, shall be located within the dwelling structure, in a room or rooms which:
A.
Afford privacy and are separate from the habitable rooms; and
B.
Are accessible from a common hall and without going outside the dwelling structure.
