§ 15.40.428. Notice of designation—Vacation order.

  • Notice of the declaration of any structure under this chapter as unfit for human habitation and the order to vacate said structure shall be served as provided herein. The village director of the building inspections department shall placard the structure indicating that it is unfit for human habitation in accordance with the requirements set out in Title 17-½, Section 62 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, as amended. If occupied, the village inspector shall order the dwelling, or that part thereof, vacated within twenty-four hours. Occupants shall be relocated and, if necessary, reasonably housed for not more than seven days at the expense of the owner or operator of the property being placarded.
