§ 15.40.572. Responsibilities of director.

  • A.

    The village inspector shall be responsible for enforcing the provisions of this chapter. The village inspector is hereby authorized during reasonable hours to enter and inspect any dwelling, dwelling unit, rooming unit, dormitory and surrounding premises subject to the provisions of this chapter, when cause has been shown that conditions exist within a dwelling unit that are detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the habitants or general public.

    B.

    The village director of inspections shall cause periodic inspections to be made of all premises within the village to secure compliance with this chapter.

    C.

    If any owner, occupant, or other person in charge of a dwelling, dwelling unit or rooming unit, or of a multiple dwelling or a rooming house dwelling, subject to entry for an authorized inspection, fails or refuses to permit access or entry for an authorized inspection, the village inspector, upon a showing that a probable cause exists for the inspection, shall obtain a court order from the Circuit Court of the county restraining that person from interfering with the inspector's access and entry upon the premises.

    D.

    The village inspector shall maintain a record of all fines assessed and collected pursuant to this chapter.

    E.

    The village inspector may collect, publish and disseminate information to the public concerning techniques of maintenance, repair and sanitation in housing and concerning the requirements of this chapter.
