§ 8.04.204. Notice to abate nuisances.
A.
Whenever the owner a parcel of land fails to abate any of the nuisances identified in articles I, II or III of this Code, the zoning administrator, any member of the village board or any designee of such persons may cause the service upon such owner of a notice to abate the nuisance.
B.
Such a notice to abate may be given in any one of the following ways:
1.
Personal delivery of the notice by any officer or employee of the village or any person authorized by law to make personal service upon the owner or upon any person of age fourteen years or older found at the usual place of residence of the owner; or
2.
By certified mail addressed to the residence or usual place of business of the owner. The date of service shall be the day following the date upon which the notice is delivered to the United State Post Office; or
3.
The text of the notice shall contain a reference to any provision of the village code violated and may contain such other information as will reasonably inform the owner respecting the nature of the violation. The notice shall direct the owner to abate the nuisance within a time deemed appropriate given the nature of the nuisance but in any event not less than five nor more than forty-five days from the date of service of the notice to abate.
C.
Upon failure of the owner to comply with a notice to abate in the manner prescribed by this section, any officer of the village or any designee of any such officer may cause the abatement of the nuisance.
